On December 18, the "Intelligence Empowers Aerospace, Wings Spread Over Taizhou" New Product Roll-off Ceremony of Taizhou Honeycomb Aerospace Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Honeycomb Aerospace") was held in Taizhou Bay New Area, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. The morning session was hosted by Cheng Bolin, Vice President of the Low-Altitude Economy Branch of the China Information Industry Association and Member of the Strategic Advisory Committee of Tianmu Mountain Laboratory. At the event site, Honeycomb Aerospace showcased a focused display of its independently developed SU-51 Intelligent Unmanned Airport, and held the inauguration ceremonies for two strategic scientific research cooperation projects at the same time — the Joint Laboratory co-established by Beihang Tianmu Mountain Laboratory and Honeycomb Aerospace, as well as the Advanced Materials and Equipment Research Laboratory for Large UAVs co-built by Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and Honeycomb Aerospace, were officially inaugurated.

This inauguration marks that Honeycomb Aerospace has stepped onto a new level in the R&D, industry-university-research integration and industrial application of unmanned systems. The joint laboratories will carry out in-depth cooperation in such fields as low-altitude UAV application development, flight control system design, operation management and control, and intelligent equipment development, providing scientific research support and technical reserves for the industry, while building a high-level talent training platform.

The Joint Laboratory of Beihang Tianmu Mountain Laboratory and Honeycomb Aerospace, drawing on the scientific research platform of Beihang Tianmu Mountain Laboratory and the technological accumulation of Honeycomb Aerospace in low-altitude UAV systems and industrial applications, will conduct joint research on key technologies, application for scientific research projects and academic exchanges to accelerate the transformation and application of technological achievements.

At the same time, the inauguration of the Laboratory of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and Honeycomb Aerospace also marks the further deepening of cooperation between enterprises and universities. The two parties will carry out comprehensive cooperation in the research and development of advanced materials for UAVs, the manufacturing of intelligent equipment, and joint talent cultivation. By co-establishing industry-university-research bases, jointly supervising students, and conducting engineering case studies, they will realize the efficient transformation of scientific research achievements into industrial applications.

Li Wei, Chairman of Honeycomb Aerospace, stated, "The inauguration of the joint laboratories is not only an upgrade to the technological R&D capabilities of the enterprise, but also a concrete practice of industry-university-research collaborative innovation. We will give full play to the advantages of the research strengths of both enterprises and universities, continue to promote technological innovation and industrialization of drone technologies, and contribute to the development of the low-altitude economy and intelligent equipment industry in Taizhou and across the country."
With the inauguration and establishment of the two major joint laboratories, Honeycomb Aerospace will rely on the industry-university-research collaborative innovation system to strengthen technological R&D, talent cultivation and achievement transformation, providing more intelligent and efficient drone solutions for multiple fields such as highway inspection, border and coastal defense, smart security, and emergency rescue. This ceremony not only demonstrated the technological strength of Honeycomb Aerospace in the field of unmanned systems, but also marked that the innovative forces for the R&D and application of low-altitude drones in Zhejiang Province are accelerating their concentration.
Tianmushan Laboratory
Tianmushan Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as "the Laboratory"), an aviation-focused Zhejiang Provincial Laboratory approved by the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province, was officially inaugurated on June 6, 2022. It is built on the basis of Beihang University and the Beihang University International Institute for Innovation in Hangzhou (hereinafter referred to as "the Institute"), entrusted to Beihang University for management, and located within Beihang Hangzhou International Campus in Yuhang District and the West Sci-Tech Corridor of Hangzhou.
Centering on Zhejiang Province’s strategic goals of "developing a high-level civil aviation powerhouse and building a highland for low-altitude economy development", the Laboratory focuses on two key areas: advanced aviation technologies and high-performance aviation materials, and establishes five research centers, namely the Green Civil Aircraft Intelligent Design Center, Green Civil Aeronautical Engine Integrated Design Center, High-performance Aviation Materials and Advanced Manufacturing Center, Intelligent Flight Management and Onboard Energy Integration Center, and Low-altitude Carrier Equipment Technology Research and Testing Center. It conducts research on core technologies such as advanced aircraft design, advanced propulsion systems, aviation materials, airborne equipment, and low-altitude safety, thus forming a strong synergy for scientific research. Adhering to the institutional reform of integrating education, science and technology, and talent cultivation, the Laboratory advances the initiatives of "synchronized planning, synchronized construction, and synchronized investment" with the Beihang University International Institute for Innovation in Hangzhou, and establishes a tightly-coupled development model among itself, Beihang University and the Institute. The Laboratory is committed to building a high-energy-level innovation platform with significant influence, fostering a source of original innovation, forming a strategic force for scientific and technological innovation in the aviation field, and supporting Zhejiang Province in achieving a breakthrough from "plateau" to "peak" in basic scientific research in the aviation sector. Its Academic Committee and Strategic Advisory Committee include 15 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, bringing together more than 100 renowned experts, scholars and academic leaders.
